My research covers Urban and Environmental Dynamics, Vegetation Changes and Climate, Coastal and Riverine Ecosystems, utilizing geospatial techniques and remote sensing for sustainable development. (* first-authored publications)

Urban and Environmental Dynamics

This research theme focuses on the interactions between urbanization and environmental changes, examining how urban growth impacts and is influenced by ecological factors. The studies explore various aspects of urban environments, including tree canopy mapping, urban heat islands, spatiotemporal growth patterns, and sustainable urban practices. Through advanced geospatial and remote sensing techniques, these works aim to understand and mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization on the environment.

Related Publications:

  • *Urban heat island effects on the thermo-ecological environment: a case from Asian mega-city Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • *Exploring the spatio-temporal patterns and driving forces of urban growth in Dhaka megacity from 1990 to 2020;

  • Identification of potential rooftops for gardening and contributions of RTGs to improve the socio-economic condition and promote a sustainable urban environment in the changing climatic condition of Bangladesh.

Vegetation Changes and Climate

This research theme focuses on examining the intricate relationship between vegetation dynamics and climatic factors using advanced geospatial techniques. The studies aim to understand how vegetation patterns change over time and the impact of these changes on the environment and climate adaptation strategies. Key areas of interest include deforestation, land use changes, and their implications for local and regional climates.

Relaated Publications:

  • *Greening and browning trend with physio-climatic drivers in Chattogram division, Bangladesh;
  • Jhau (C. equisetifolia) deforestation impact on coastal landscape ecology and climate change adaptation in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh;
  • *Spatiotemporal changes of vegetation and land surface temperature in the refugee camps and its surrounding areas of Bangladesh after the Rohingya influx from Myanmar.

Coastal and Riverine Ecosystems

This research theme delves into the dynamic and complex interactions within coastal and riverine ecosystems. The studies focus on understanding the impacts of natural events and human activities on these ecosystems, including geomorphological changes, flood events, and rising sea levels. Using advanced geospatial technologies, these works aim to provide insights into ecosystem services, landscape dynamics, and effective management strategies for coastal and riverine areas.

Example Publications:

  • Geomorphological changes and landscape ecosystem services dynamics of the Bhasan char island in the Northern Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh;

  • Modeling on metamorphosis of the old Brahmaputra River and associated impacts on landscapes in the central Bengal basin in Bangladesh.
